Hi there, thank you for your report on this scenic drive. I plan to visit Ohio next month for a couple of days and I am so excited about doing this scenic drive! My family and my best friend's family will be taking the drive together. we're hoping to find a spot with a view of the river to stop and have a picnic. I hope the route does not have a lot of traffic. I'm hoping for a nice, quiet drive in the country where we can stop, take in the scenery and take loads of photos.

I have a R1200RT 2005 with 33.5K miles on it, so far I have used 3 tire brands already (Dunlop Qualifiers, Metzellers and Pirelli Diablo Strada)so far my best tire has been the Pirelli´s, but, at this point in time I need a new set of tires and I thinking on the Michellin Pilot Road 2´s.

I have checked reviews from other riders for lighter bikes (2007 Suzuki Bandit 1250S) and they have reported getting 14K miles out of the set which is amazing, now the question I have is if this kind of performance could be expected on a R1200RT which is at least 100 pounds heavier.

Any comments?

Best regards Ernesto

I've never had much good experience with radar detectors. I used one on a trip from N.C. to Ohio, and still got pulled over. Of course, it was going off, but the other guys in the car were jumping around and blasting music on the radio. So I didn't see the detector going off until the cops lights went on.

I didn't get a ticket, which made one of my friends mad, he said he would have gotten a ticket because he was black.

I've had two of these units for month now and just got back from a 2200 mile trip. When working these are great. When working is the operative phrase here. As advertised, I have paired a phone, a Zumo 550, and the pillion helmet; I have also had the Phone, iPod and helmet to helmet connection. Unfortunately, while the communications are clear, the unit takes too long to come to volume, meaning that I miss most of the GPS instructions. Also when I get a phone call, it drops the GPS pairing entirely. And I actually can no longer pair the GPS. It also now drops the channel 2 pairing when a call is received. With the iPod, it doesn't mute, it actually pauses it meaning that I have to restart the unit (really a problem when it is in your pocket), and then it is intermittent whether I can hear the music again.

So far I'm very disappointed.

Spencer,

Thanks for the comment. I am glad to know that you guys got the website problem fixed. I was beginning to get worried when I was unable to contact you to return a product that was not functioning properly.

I think that my update at http://www.mymotorcycletravels.com/benchmark-helmets-and-bluetooth-motorcycle-intercom-update/ made it clear that I was pleased with the ease of handling the return after contacting you. I will keep my readers updated on the progress of replacing my BTS-300 unit.

I can understand technical issues keeping emails from being routed properly, and I am not going to hold it against you. Thank you for letting me and my readers know what the problem was!

Steve,

I came across your website review, great job... In regards to the lack of response to email, somehow the email us page had malfunctioned and was not forwarding emails properly on the imcmoto.com website.

Hopefully you understand and the issue has since been resolved.

The SW1 211 was built by Electro Motive Division of General Motors for Detroit Edison as previously noted. It still has the original 6 567A engine and is equipped with 6BL air brakes and is very reliable for our train service. 211 is currently on loan from Jerry Jacobson, former owner of Ohio Central Railroad. Glad you enjoyed your visit and thanks for your comments.
